My Politics

I've voted for the Libertarians the last 10 elections for President. I do not believe in the Republinuts or the Democraps, or, the big media that supports them.

Because of the above - my views, IMO, are the real independent; THE `Eagle' views, and not the `centrist' `independent' views of those that alternate between the Jackass and the Elephant.

Thanks for checking out my politics blog.

Is Chip Rogers For Small Government?

One of the up and coming stars in Georgia politics is Chip Rogers - my senator in Georgia and the Majority Leader of the Senate of Georgia. While I have plenty of issues with Georgia politics that Chip and the current governor are aware of - which I will detail soon in Real Heavy Politics - I found this online recently and wanted to share it with those who Chip represents.

In all probability Chip is unopposed as many of those in the Senate are every time around - the last time Chip was unopposed he got about 91% of those that bothered voting to click his name. Of course, that figure is reported as 100% by the news and is only available by digging into the stats of the spreadsheets. The Georgia media always reports those unopposed as getting 100% of the vote when in reality - even when unopposed some candidates may only get 80% or so.

What is the solution - DO NOT CAST VOTES FOR UNOPPOSED CANDIDATES --- Don't waste your vote.

Exposing the Fraudulent Criminalization of Marijuana

From the link:

For almost 40 years, the United States has waged a war on its own citizens who have used marijuana as a part of a drug culture originally encouraged by the government. The war was commenced despite the government's own findings that marijuana posed less of a risk to American society than alcohol, and that the greatest harm that would result from criminalization would be the injury caused to those arrested for possession and use. The harm caused by the war extends beyond its 15 million prisoners; its cost has exceeded a trillion dollars, and it has benefited only those who profit from the illegal cultivation and sale of marijuana

Prop 19 Supporters Should EXPECT An `October Surprise'

So, the very latest polls now show that the citizens of California may be poised to upset the whole foundation of The Drug War in a matter of months with Prop 19. And, if Prop 19 passes - suddenly all over America (one would hope) local news shows that have long featured the brave police busting into someones home for a few pounds of pot - might, just might, be started to be seen as home invasions and frivolous. Suddenly, the politicians who have `supported' The Drug War on both political sides may have to give a `different take' on the whole matter. Suddenly, everything might be different.

So, it should come as NO surprise that the October Surprise will be coming and will be coming BIG TIME. And, the October surprise will hit hard, create fear, and most likely be based on lies. And, as you know, that is nothing new for The Drug War supported by the politicians, and media.

Now, anticipating the October surprise will be easy in a sense as obviously the Feds will say ANYTHING - such as `there has been already a huge increase in teenage usage since medical marijuana' (regardless if true or not) -- such as `the potency of today's marijuana makes the high not like the high of decades ago' (regardless if true or not) -- such as `smoking pot causes cancer (even if the opposite seems true) -- such as `pot is a gateway drug' (regardless if true or not) -- such as `teens that use pot have a higher pregnancy rate' (regardless if true or not) -- such as `traffic accidents will increase' (regardless if true or not) - such as `work productivity will decrease' (RITON) - such as `Border-Mexican violence will increase' (RITON) - such as - I think you get the point.

And, the point is this - the Fed's will NOT go down without a fight that includes the absurd - and NOT without a fight that includes baseless lies - and numerous `October Surprises' - which the media will proudly present as `the other side'.

Will The Republicans Please Shut-Up About Individual Rights Now That The Democrats Have Endorsed Legal Pot In California?

If you read my posts about politics - you will find that I almost never find something to say good about the Democrats, who I call democraps. And, that is countered by me rarely finding something to say about the Republicans, who I call Republinuts. Indeed, despite voting for the Libertarians in the last 8 Presidential elections - they too are suspect (how could they not be truly loudly behind the right to self medicate with pot in the 2008 election).

But, all that is starting, perhaps, to slip away as evidently the Democratic Party in California has endorsed the proposition to legalize and tax marijuana - to make it available to those who don't currently have a prescription. And, evidently, the Republicans - the self-proclaimed voices of standing for the individual and not the `group' - have decided to support the opposite.

Fine, but, please Republinuts - don't peddle your `individual rights' vs the government rights - anymore. Your bluff has been called and you wear no clothes.

A Call To Action - My `Re-Elect Nobody' Sign - And The Public Reaction

If you read my sidebar you can see my politics - I detest both political parties and the system they have set up for their own power. That feeling has only gotten stronger over the years; and it perhaps is dawning on the public that we DON'T have a two party system - we have a one political system power structure - that is both sides of the same coin.

One example of why the common folk don't have power against the system is that politicians are a MAJOR SOURCE of advertising revenue on the TV - and RADIO - and NEWSPAPER - mainstream media outlets. Consequently, it would be naive to think that `punches aren't pulled' on anything that the politicians do when in office. Criticism of advertisers is generally prohibited and good business practice. And, in Georgia, with days to the primaries, the stench of the ads is nearly non-stop - especially to folks who believe we have a truly bloated government structure - that no politicians talk about dismantling.

I use that as a background because it was the non-stopness of the ads that eventually - yesterday - drove me into the streets once again. With a standard white posterboard, Walmart purchased,  with huge purple letters that said `RE-ELECT NOBODY'.  It was the same sign I used on the street just before the main election of 2008 - during the September crash of the financial system itself.

However, this time, on Jamerson Road,  in northern Cobb county in Georgia, I stood in front of my subdivision that I've lived in over 20 years (I stood about a mile away before in 2008 at a busy intersection of Jamerson Rd). And, as I say to my friends - who always say they have always wanted to do the same thing, (protest in the street with a sign) - I am doing this for you.

Frankly, I have NO idea why more folks don't take to the public route - for a quick bout of `protest' - `a putting your action where your mouth is' - as the reaction one gets these days - is truly something to behold. Indeed, within a minute, perhaps no more than 25 seconds or so, and only about the 4th car I flashed the sign to - I already had my first horn beep. Which was immediately followed by two cars with the thumbs up sign (some from inside the car and some put well up into the air outside of the window).

Only a minute had passed, perhaps less. I was charged. And, I decided to count those `recognitions' of my protest efforts. (Having done this on a busier interesection in 2008 - I knew about what to expect - but this was certainly a MUCH STRONGER public reaction than in 2008.)

And, before I reveal the number - how many folks do you think would do something in a positive manner in ONE hour? 25? 35? 55? Now, I assumed when I walked out that the response would be less than my sign got  in 2008 - when I estimated the response in an hour, at a busier intersection, to be about 75 `honks-thumbs up' reactions. Indeed, in 2008, not only was it an intersection (as opposed to a two way road) - I was at a red light and it gave many folks the chance to see the sign fully while waiting for the light to change.

But, the reactions and numbers started to add up - and it was from citizens who were driving all types of vehicles - and from what I could see - both sexes, all races, and all age groups (that said, some had a better index in this number). Indeed, in that hour I had one person turn around and pull over to speak with me - and another stop cold in the street (no traffic coming) and spoke with me.

Many folks did more than honk, or give a thumbs up - some yelled out their windows `hell ya' - `absolutely' `right on' and others like `F ya', etc.

I am NOT pulling your leg.

So, have you come up with a number yet (remember, I can only show ONE side of traffic my sign at a time - missing many opportunities)? How many `recognitions' would it take for YOU to go out and do the same thing?

What IF people stood outside of subdivisions thruout America with RE-ELECT NOBODY signs? Do you think the F'ing politicians might get the faintest wiff of discontent with the way they have done things? Indeed, I wonder how many - if any - politicians may have passed my sign? What if politicians had to pass signs like this daily? Would it really be that hard to take just an hour and see what happens if you stand up for an opinion?

So, one last time - how many honks would it take to make you think it is worth your time?

Would 102 do?

(I estimate that 400-500 folks had an opportunity to see the sign and that about half that number actually read it. I actually bet, that it takes a moment to sink in to some folks and that they `wished' they honked - and I bet that if I did it again - that repeaters in such a manner would beep and increase the numbers.)

Thanks for visiting - please leave a comment or better yet - make your own sign. I have more strong opinions on this blog too - look around - http://realheavypolitics.blogspot.com/ .

ACLU Chief 'Disgusted' With Obama

To me, the funny part - is that the ALCU - STILL doesn't `get it' that we don't have a two party system -- and that BOTH parties are BEYOND worthless to the average folk. This quote from the link:"It’s 18 months and, if not now, when? ... Guantanamo is still not closed. Military commissions are still a mess. The administration still uses state secrets to shield themselves from litigation. There's no prosecution for criminal acts of the Bush administration. Surveillance powers put in place under the Patriot Act have been renewed. If there has been change in the civil liberties context, I frankly don't see it." - http://www.politico.com/blogs/joshgerstein/0610/ACLU_chief_disgusted_with_Obama.html?showall

I do not question the sincerity or intent of people involved in the DARE program. ("School resource officers felled by state budget ax," June 14.) Nor do I question their desire to prevent drug and alcohol abuse among youth. Nonetheless, there is a significant problem with DARE.
Evidence and research indicate, in the words of one study, that DARE "has a limited to nonexistent effect" on drug use. The General Accounting Office, U.S. surgeon general, National Institute of Justice, Department of Education and American Psychological Association conclude that DARE is ineffective.
A 2009 study of a new DARE curriculum, "Take charge of Your Life," involving 20,000 seventh-graders, concluded: "Far from being a success, the program is actually counterproductive." That from University of Akron researchers who designed the program.
Even on DARE's website, so-called research in support of DARE's effectiveness is primarily testimonials from DARE personnel and police and anecdotal evidence, not objective research. One "study" stated DARE is a success because it improved the image of police. That's what DARE is for? DARE money improves the police image?
A more accurate headline for the article, had The Day researched DARE's "success," would have been "School resource officers and DARE programs felled by facts." -- A success because it `improves the police image?' -- you have got to be F-ing kidding me! http://www.theday.com/article/20100617/OP02/306179447

Are Cameras the New Guns?

Just when you thought the worthless courts and the worthless politicians that make the laws for them couldn't get any worse - it get worse. From this article:In response to a flood of Facebook and YouTube videos that depict police abuse, a new trend in law enforcement is gaining popularity. In at least three states (Illinois, Massachusetts, and Maryland), it is now illegal to record an on-duty police officer even if the encounter involves you and may be necessary to your defense, and even if the recording is on a public street where no expectation of privacy exists - http://www.thefreemanonline.org/headline/are-cameras-the-new-guns/# Expecting justice - RHP.

Is The Great Recession Actually A Depression?

Click tables for large view!

U.S. Unemployment Varies Significantly Based on Income Levels

The one word our worthless mouthpiece for the government media doesn't use to describe the current `new normal'; ie: `the jobless recovery' - is DEPRESSION. But, what do you call unemployment and underemployment rates of 28-50% for certain segments of our society? Is there a reason you find this data on a blog in the far corner of the blogosphere - and - not on your hometown front page; or, as the lead story in your worthless local TV news?

Could it be that the story of `haves' and `have-nots' doesn't make a good lead in to the commercial break?

Here's some additional findings of this study:
The total number of unemployed and underemployed has doubled in the last two years

Four year collage graduates, many managers, government employees, professionals are well protected from job losses

Blue-collar workers particularly in the construction sector, teenagers and black men have higher unemployment rates

From the chart above, we can infer that workers in the top two deciles have unemployment rates of just 4.0% and 3.2%

Workers in the lowest decile - those earning $12,499 or less - faced a Great Depression era unemployment rate of about 31% and the second lowest declie had an unemployment rate of about 20%

Both unemployment and underemployment rates increase dramatically from high income to low income levels

The study above clearly shows that lower-income Americans are affected greatly by the current recession while people at the top of the pyramid have almost negligible unemployment rates.

Huge Incentive To Walk Away

Please tell me that I didn't hear on the MSM that President Obama praised yesterday's anemic jobs report? Please tell me that. (While the market was simultaneously down 300+ with the actual message of the numbers -). Indeed, the disconnect widens between the messengers (MSM) and the `receivers' (the common man) - to new levels that were once thought to be impossible. The disgust  for politicians grows.

The True Story Of The Day The D.A.R.E. Officer Came To School

As you know, Real Heavy Politics also serves as a resource for `Rants' - such as this one found recently on the internet at Reddit.com:

It must have been in 1987 or so. I was in 2nd grade. the D.A.R.E. officer was paying our class an educational visit. The officer told us of all the evils of drugs, especially marijuana. Weed seemed to be the main focus of the the officer's attention. He was using an overhead projector when he showed us various types of paraphernalia. "If you see a pipe like this, or a clear baggy with this green plant in it, it's marijuana," the officer told us. "If you've seen this before, you should let me know right away so I can make sure no one gets in any trouble," we were told.

Then came the next slide, a photo of a marijuana plant. The officer explained to the classroom full of seven year olds, that this was a pesky weed. In fact, usually it just grows wild, with most people never realizing that this highly illegal plant is growing on their property. He asked us if any of us recognized the plant. One boy did, Daniel. When pressed, though, Danny seemed to regret piping up. The cop told him "If you have one of these plants, I need to know so that we can get it out of there before anyone gets in trouble. If there's one in your yard, and you tell us, we'll just remove it and no one will be in any trouble, but if we find it on our own, everyone goes to jail."

That's when Danny told the officer about the plants like that in his back yard.

That was the last time I ever saw Daniel. A few days later I overheard my parents discussing how his parents had been arrested for growing pot.

Now I am 30. I have a son about to turn 10. We have had the "D.A.R.E. talk." Basically, this is the talk explaining to him that what Daddy does at home is Daddy's business, never tell anyone. Now, usually the cops shoot for the 7-8 year old kids so they can get the info before the parents have had time to properly educate their kids about police deception.

Teach your kids that the D.A.R.E. officer is not their friend, and that he will lie to you. Tell them this story, like I did. "Don't be a Daniel," I told my son.

Only wimps don't tell their kids the truth about pot and the real purpose of the D.A.R.E. program. http://www.reddit.com/r/trees/comments/c9nfr/the_trues_story_of_the_day_the_dare_officer_came/

Owners Stop Paying Mortgages, And Stop Fretting

Already, months ago - RHP carried a link that suggested the `recovery' was in part being fueled by `homeowners' spending on other things, rather than the mortgage - talk about a false recovery. (The MSmedia is just starting to pick this up.) - Quotes include:
Foreclosure has allowed them to stabilize the family business. Go to Outback occasionally for a steak. Take their gas-guzzling airboat out for the weekend. Visit the Hard Rock Casino.
“Instead of the house dragging us down, it’s become a life raft,” said Mr. Pemberton, who stopped paying the mortgage on their house here last summer. “It’s really been a blessing.”http://www.cnbc.com/id/37446571  Economy Cheerleading - RHP

MSM's Coverage Of Gulf `SPILL' Pushing Some Into Rants

Got this one from a good buddy of mine today.

Time for the truth to be told. The rate of flow out of the main leak

is at least 259,000 barrels per day, not the 5,000 BP Oil is admitting
to on NBC 5/22/10 at 6:45 pm. The math is simple. You look at the
rate of flow out of the main leak. It is really gushing, for sure.
That pipe is 22" wide. Almost exactly the diameter of an oil barrel.
Every 3 feet of oil that comes out is 1 barrel. Count ...one thousand
one..... and estimate how many feet come out. That pipe is rated for
10,000 psi. I say at least 9 or 10 feet of crap erupts from the broken
end. Probably closer to 15, but we will be conservative. So, 3
barrels per second times 60 seconds times 60 minutes equals 10,800
barrels per hour. What is BP talking about and why didn't anyone at
NBC question this???? 10,800 times 24 hours EQUALS 259,200 barrels of
oily crap spewing into the Gulf of Mexico everyday! How can BP say
5,000????? This number is just for the main leak that most of the
video has focused on. When will we get to know the truth???? Are they
lying to keeps the markets up????? I guess we could employ a few
million to stand on the beach and sop up oil blobs for a few
years....Texas, LA, Miss, Bama..FLA, GA, SC, NC....MD......England?????
The Gulf Stream will take it back to the beaches in England ..poetic
perhaps. How many miles of coastline will be affected???? Fishing in
all those states will be highly compromised...all water
sports.........we have no idea how much this is going to cost the
worldwide economy.

Send me your rant via the comments. Thanks for visiting today.

IDEA - New Name For Tea Party - The American Eagle Party

Hello, welcome to Real Heavy Politics. As you can see from my headline - I have an idea about re-naming the Tea Party. Here goes.

First, IF the people of America really understood history, or the nobility of the original Boston Tea Party - and there was no MSM - the name would perhaps be perfect. BUT, Americans have been dumbed down by the MSM to the point that any nobility in `standing up to the governing' is never a talking point.

Indeed, because of a true lack of focus of the current Tea `Party' and Tea Partiers - the event is indeed made/covered to be a big NEGATIVE `Party' (literally a party, fun event, not serious) that `normal' political party folks - shouldn't be associated with.

Now, as you can see from my sidebar - this idea of a political party claiming `The Eagle' as their symbol-mascot --- instead of a Jackass or a Bloated Elephant - is not new with me. I would hope that I do not need to point out the `values' that might be associated with such a symbol/mascot.

Eagles are beautiful and majestic - the Jackass stubborn, the Elephant - well, an HUGE elephant. And, in most cases - both the elephant and jackass are DEPENDENT on people.

A party associated with the Eagle - would see America FIRST - not a battle for `saying the right words' to the most people. A party associated with the Eagle would eat/take - ONLY what it needed and wouldn't waste - the way nature intended. Protecting ONLY it's own territory. Being INDEPENDENT and self sufficient - but with the needed claws to protect. To protect America.

The Eagle party would RIP apart what is NOT needed in the whole bloated government mess. The Eagle party would be open to ideas rejected by the Jackass and Elephant mutually for decades and decades. The Eagle party would NOT be afraid to pull back the military to our borders to reign in their total power and influence. OR, the influence of lesser evils everywhere to be found under nearly every government program. Even `entitlements'. Even lawyers and lobbyists.

Oh, I forgot to mention - the Eagle would be facing Straight On - looking the nation in the eyes - with a head not facing left or right. And, a `party' not likely to be `mocked' by the MSM (such as their recent interest in a `coffee' party).

Well?

Sometimes I do politics at my other blog too - it's not for everybody however - http://barfstew.blogspot.com/ - thanks for visiting RHP today.

Banks Ignore Delinquent Borrowers

Is the government so desperate that they are telling the banks to NOT foreclose? Is the so-called `recovery' nothing more than people spending the money they used to pay to keep current on a mortgage? Or, is the slight uptick in eating out being driven by the same reason (or is it that some folks will eat out a time or two in lieu of not taking a vacation)? --- Anyway, this link says to count in YEARS the time frame before housing even begins to hint at a recovery. http://www.cnbc.com/id/37131956
