My Politics

I've voted for the Libertarians the last 10 elections for President. I do not believe in the Republinuts or the Democraps, or, the big media that supports them.

Because of the above - my views, IMO, are the real independent; THE `Eagle' views, and not the `centrist' `independent' views of those that alternate between the Jackass and the Elephant.

Thanks for checking out my politics blog.

Hemp is the side of marijuana the politicians REALLY don't want to talk about. Nullification at Work: California to Legalize Marijuana?

We may well be nearing the OMG moment about marijuana - it appears that California will have full legalization on the 2010 ballot. AND, polls indicate it may very well pass. Is The New Obama Administration Medical Marijuana Policy - Just More Hot Air?

So, the big media talking heads played the fool again - announcing the `big' change in pot policy by the Federal Government. Now, being a 100% skeptic on anything said by our media - let alone being a 200% skeptic on anything the media says the government is doing about marijuana - I thought I'd look at the words used for this policy change.

"And while the policy memo describes a change in priorities away from prosecuting medical marijuana cases, it does not rule out the possibility that the federal government could still prosecute someone whose activities are allowed under state law."....."In particular, the memo urges prosecutors to pursue marijuana cases which involve violence, the illegal use of firearms, selling pot to minors, money laundering or other crimes."..."At the same time, the officials said, the government will still prosecute those who use medical marijuana as a cover for other illegal activity. The memo particularly warns that some suspects may hide old-fashioned drug dealing or other crimes behind a medical marijuana business." ..."The memo, the officials said, emphasizes that prosecutors have wide discretion in choosing which cases to pursue,"

Say what? You call this progress? Is it really possible that all this hype was focused on these words only? ..."it is not a good use of federal manpower to prosecute those who are without a doubt in compliance with state law."

So, in other words - treat the user and the distributor as guilty until proven innocent. And, since WHEN is it EVER a good use of federal manpower to prosecute those who are without a doubt in compliance with state law? AND, THAT IS THE PROGRESS? Oh please.

Sorry pal - seems like a lot of hot air trial balloon to me. One bag of hot air to lull to sleep those that would desire real change. The kind of feel good change you can't believe in.

Criminalizing Everyone

I bring you some quotes from this link - http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/oct/05/criminalizing-everyone/
""You don't need to know. You can't know." That's what Kathy Norris, a 60-year-old grandmother of eight, was told when she tried to ask court officials why, the day before, federal agents had subjected her home to a furious search.
The agents who spent half a day ransacking Mrs. Norris' longtime home in Spring, Texas, answered no questions while they emptied file cabinets, pulled books off shelves, rifled through drawers and closets, and threw the contents on the floor.
The six agents, wearing SWAT gear and carrying weapons, were with - get this- the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service."

"Krister Evertson, another victim of overcriminalization, told Congress, "What I have experienced in these past years is something that should scare you and all Americans." He's right. Evertson, a small-time entrepreneur and inventor, faced two separate federal prosecutions stemming from his work trying to develop clean-energy fuel cells.
The feds prosecuted Mr. Evertson the first time for failing to put a federally mandated sticker on an otherwise lawful UPS package in which he shipped some of his supplies. A jury acquitted him, so the feds brought new charges. This time they claimed he technically had "abandoned" his fuel-cell materials - something he had no intention of doing - while defending himself against the first charges. Mr. Evertson, too, spent almost two years in federal prison"

Our bloated Federal government - is there no end to the stupidity and bloatedness?

The Real Heavy Politics Of American Ufo Disclosure

Hello, welcome to Real Heavy Politics @ Blogspot - thanks for visiting. As some of you may know, I have a blog about UFO Disclosure and even another blog that talks about UFO's with some frequency. So, why would I use my Politics blog to re-hash this on-going issue? Well, because it may indeed by POLITICS that keeps this issue from the American people.

Now, as you may or not be aware - a number of countries have stepped forward in the last year or so and `released' `ufo information'. While many in the UFO camp heralded these moves as progress - a very strange thing also happened (or should I say didn't happen) each time. Indeed, each time a country released these so-called UFO files - NONE of the countries current leaders, such as Presidents - confirmed in any way the current existence or even past existence of `aliens'.

Additionally, almost all the reports had to do, literally, with Yesteryear -- reports that were decades and decades old. And, in all of the countries - other than a day or two - the news media let the matter drop. Indeed, the world media, other than the internet world - was suspiciously silent. Very suspiciously silent IMO. And, I wondered, could that silence be do to political pressure? What aspects of politics could decades old reports endanger?

Well, let me list some for you.

First on the Heavy Politics list would be -- the power of the military and the weakness of `Presidents'. As, for decades, the UFO `problem' has been quietly swept under the rug and out of the reach of `Presidents'. Presidents are to be concerned with the `people' and their `party' - no need to involve them in `esoteric WORLD events' that may or may not be a threat to a nations security. Indeed, most countries like to portray the President as `in charge' of the military and the National security. The ending of that illusion would indeed be `Heavy Politics.'

Next, as surmised by hundreds over the years - IF alien UFO's exist - and have visited or are visiting Earth -- many millions are concerned about the `religious belief structure' already in place and holding great comfort to perhaps Billions of humans. Religion is seen as `freedom' given by our political leaders to believe as we wish about creation, ethics and morals. IF Presidents `confirmed' such releases of UFO information with `certainty' - that could be seen to undermine that vital component of humanity. And, the ending of that illusion would again be `Heavy Politics'. (Politicians USE the religious for votes after all.)

Then, you have the whole issue of `truthfullness' - a characteristic almost all politicians claim to adhere too. And, if it was found that President after President after President - were liars; that too would be viewed as destroying any credibility that they may have left on other issues. And, it would be Heavy Politics for any President to have to travel down the `liar road' very far. Politicians being perceived as liars is not in the interest of politicians.

And, finally, you have what most likely would be the revealing of `secret military budgets' to deal with `the threat' of UFO's as perceived by the military. (Despite the Noble cause of `defending Earth'.) And, those `off budget billions' - citizen tax dollars - would be the final nail in the coffin as far as confidence in the government. Generating potential DISGUST with the political system as a whole.

Which is the reason - that Real Heavy Politics - will not allow real American UFO Disclosure. Indeed, watch the YouTube video below of President Obama about this very issue.

Oh, BTW, PLEASE go to my front page http://realheavypolitics.blogspot.com to see my most recent posts - I think you might enjoy the selection. Thanks.

Question: As the citizen based marijuana movement continues - both on the Decriminalization front and the Medical Marijuana front - and - as marijuana arrests decline in the future -----> Is the government looking to REPLACE those lawyer dollars and jail cell time with citizens who can't afford the coming mandatory health insurance?

Answer: Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Lightweight Katie Couric Nails Glenn Beck

Normally, up until now, I had viewed Glenn Beck as someone I could, in general, agree with. He had smidgens of a Libertarian streak, seemed to dislike big government, and expressed points of view not heard daily - especially when he was on CNN. However, my opinion is now completely different - and, all because of Katie Couric. Life is full of surprises.

As you will see in the video below - Katie asked a very very simple question and one that Beck should have known would have been asked. And, all she did was simply ask the question repeatedly looking for an answer. The result, is 3 minutes of video that you will never ever forget. Indeed, I had always thought of Katie Couric as the NON epitome of a `journalist' - someone who should only be doing funny animal stories at best. But, after you see Beck squirm and fidget and virtually beg for the question to end - you will understand that it is BECK who is the person in the super lightweight category ------ IS HE REALLY THIS MINDLESS?

Edit - 10/8 --> A friend sent me this:

A fitting place to carve the figure heads of these white so called "leaders". Morphing into the slimy oil gas industrialists(white men) who further destroy any natural habitat with more greed and profit as "the american way". This is the "white culture" of suit and tie all powerful businessmen who chainsaw 1,000 year old redwood trees for a patio deck to prop their fat white ass on and sip martinis after a nice round of golf sprayed with pesticide to keep it green and thus our 2000 year old dilemma, the roots of this so called great "civilized" Greco-Roman culture that rolls on its destructive course of zero collecting profit making at the expense of anything sane! Marijuana PROHIBITION - Finally Enters The Debate - And Search

As CSN&Y sang, "It's Been A Long Time Comin" - but, it may be possible that the tide is finally turning about marijuana. Once the choice of only hippies and hipsters - the federal policy towards the flowering plant is finding a new hurdle to climb. Indeed, no longer is the herb finding it's main support in the occasional 420 rally attended by youth screaming at the elders for legalization - nowadays - it's the `medicine' for potentially millions no longer on the college campus.

In fact, if you look at the google trend graph above http://www.google.com/trends?q=marijuana+legalization%2C+marijuana+prohibition&ctab=0&geo=us&geor=all&date=all&sort=0 you can see the the word `prohibition' attached to `marijuana' is actually a new phenomena. Amazingly.

And, in just the last few months, these articles, one a link to a comparison between the automaker GM and marijuana prohibition http://www.prweb.com/releases/2009/06/prweb2485694.htm and the other http://www.emailwire.com/release/24957-CSI-President-Dr-Robert-Melamede-Testified-Yesterday-at-Denver-Hearing-Which-Stopped-Attempt-to-Restrict-Patients-Access-to-Medical-Marijuana-Cannabis-Science-Plans-for-End-of-Marijuana-Prohibition.html - about public discourse about the citizens passing medical marijuana laws and that `restrictions' on those laws amount to limitations of the benefits to users - has re-set the debate.

Indeed, those who have long held out hope of a change in the laws to legalize the product for everyone - may finally be getting the boost they need as more and more people, who are NOT users of marijuana, or, who were once users of marijuana, are beginning to view the governments actions as a Prohibition - instead of legal actions.
Legalization only comes when it is acknowledged by the population that a prohibition exists.

And, as more and more states pass Medical Marijuana - those that are PROHIBITED in other states from having that medicine - are indeed, beginning to see the issue in a new way. Indeed, PROHIBITION has COSTS. Not benefits. And, finally, after all these years - the term `Prohibition' is finally entering the lexicon of the debate - and is now, finally, associated with pot.

Is America Too Big To Fail?

As a big watcher of CNBC I'm very familiar with the phrase used about the big banks and other institutions - that they are `too big to fail'. Then, it hit me, why would the world want to bail out America via their purchase of our bonds - even after we stated publicly that our very system almost `broke' a year ago?

Could it be that those very bonds would be worthless? Could it be that America is too big to fail? Might they try to prop up our money system until it is indeed - worthless?

Wizard Of Oz Character Most Like The Press? The Cowardly Lion!

As you can see from my sidebar statement about `My Politics' - you can see I'm not a fan of the MSM (mainstream media) - indeed - I find them almost revolting like most folks - but - also - fascinating to watch. As we all know, the choice of what to put on the air as `news' is largely an effort to reach the most dumbed down consumers with disposable income as possible. The media's first focus - do not upset advertisers - which for most local TV stations includes all the politicians - as political ads are literally indispensable to the final bottom line (the media also doesn't want to upset the politicians due to the politicians link to actual news).

The next thing the MSM doesn't want to do is - offend. They don't want to offend those who think they are Republicans (Republinuts) or those who think that they support the Democrats (Democraps) -- and -- not only that -- the media has a vested interest that those `pesky independents' are only always portrayed as trying to decide which of the two parties are better. And, NOT that they have any dissatisfaction with the two party system. By doing so, it allows the media to ignore third parties - since - after all - folks could support them if they wanted and the results show that they never do. Anyways, the MSM continues, aren't those that say they are independents AND non-voters, really NOT interested in politics anyway?

Can't beat that logic - right?

So, along comes the new Rasmussen poll - and low and behold - 57% would be willing to replace the ENTIRE congress http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/august_2009/57_would_like_to_replace_entire_congress and only 25% would keep the entire bunch. Oh, and it's 70% would dump them all among `non party affiliated voters' -- 70 F-ing percent.

Now, this was a real poll - not a telephone or internet `call in'. These are real numbers with plus or negatives attached to the answers. And, therefore, would be real news --- in a country that had a political structure that encouraged `other political parties' -- instead of ignoring them. Indeed, even the very limited few `independents' to ever rock the established parties - such as Perot and John Anderson --- it's as if they never existed once their 15 minutes of fame was up. The same could be said of Ron Paul and the Libertarians - even - Ralph Nader.

Indeed, why is it that these folks - for decades - haven't been asked their opinion to put along side of the opinion of the `r-nuts' or `d-craps'? HUH, WHY?

Well, it's because we have a press that is a wimp - like the cowardly lion of the wizard of oz. A big loud roar and nothing else (actually, it doesn't even roar anymore) - that the media runs scared on politics is so obvious that no one even talks about it. (Look at all the recent findings about Pot inhibiting certain cancers being buried.)

So, instead, the poll findings less than a week later -- are forgotten - and the media two party system cheerleading continues unabated. Well, rah, rah - until the voting curtain is pulled open again - perhaps someday - the media will be more like Strawman and get a brain.

A Critique Of Bob Barr's 2008 Presidential Run - By An Eight Time Libertarian Presidental Supporter

My last 8 votes for President have been 1980 - Clark; 1984 - Bergland; 1988 - Paul; 1992 - Marrou; 1996 - Browne; 2000 - Browne; 2004 - Badnarik and 2008 - Bob Barr. That's correct, not ONCE did I waste my vote on `the two party system'. Not once, and, I am proud of that. (Of course, I had to stand the stares of friends who felt that it was I who was wasting a vote.)

That said, it's strange to live in a country and to go thru one Presidential campaign, after another, after another, hoping that your candidate will get `covered' by the mainstream media. That the `ideas' presented by a party -- even if a party with only 5-10% potential support - receive a `percentage' of the coverage that is remotely `fair'. Meaning, that 5-10% of the coverage is on that third party. (I'm reminded of that Beatles song `Taxman' with the lyric -- that's 19 for me and one for you -- be happy we don't take it all.)

Yes, I'd be happy, no, elated, if the Democraps and Republinuts got 19 stories reflecting their points of view on Government -- and then -- ONE Libertarian story. Is that asking too much? Is the media THAT scared of presenting `other viewpoints' - or - is the media that much in the pockets of the two parties? (The obvious answer.)

But, as a keen observer of the media relentlessly regurgitating first one and then the other of the two parties viewpoints, for a few moments in 2008 -- I thought the media might have a reason to `balance it up'. After all, for really the first time in memory we didn't have a sitting President or Vice President of one of the major parties as nominee - and, for once - one of the `third' parties had a known name of a former congressman - Bob Barr.

Indeed, I felt very connected to this campaign - as I had met Mr. Barr at a Rib Ranch Meeting (a room in a BBQ restaurant on Canton Road in Marietta Georgia) prior to his announcing he would run for the Libertarian nomination. When I met him, and spoke with him privately for a minute, I urged him to use his awareness level - within the realm of politicians - to raise the profile of the Libertarians in the 2008 election. (I was even told by the head of the Libertarian party of Georgia (at least at that time) that Barr was going to run for sure if Hillary seemed to be the front runner for the Dems.)

Indeed, I even watched most of the Libertarian convention - at least the portion carried by C-Span. And, frankly, it was not a thing of beauty - nor was Mr. Barr's victory. Indeed, my memory is that it was widely held by the Libertarians that were voting (who seemed to be whoever would show up for a state) that while Barr WOULD give the party a candidate with `awareness' -- that now (2008) was NOT the time to pick for a nominee someone who was a leader in the Drug War effort at one time.

But, others countered, Mr. Barr seemed to apologize for that period of his life and was certainly a strong advocate - almost the only one - against the civil liberty aspects of the Patriot Act. And, in what appeared on TV to be little more than a quid quo pro -- Barr took the support of Wayne Root's followers to victory -- then gave the VP position to Mr. Root - for now. Personally, I really liked Root and think he would have made a much better candidate (and I hope he runs in 2012).

So, at the moment the convention ended, the Libertarians had - finally - someone with actual name recognition who was very well versed about the in's and out's of the whole game of Politics. And, as usual, the media -- BEFORE the two `main party' conventions - was willing to give Barr moments of exposer - which he seemed to handle fairly well. And, by this time, he had chosen Russ Verney to head the campaign - you probably remember that Verney was in the same position for the WELL FUNDED Ross Perot campaign years before.

I honestly think that they both thought that money would come flowing into the campaign as the party had someone with name recognition AND a known political consultant running the campaign. Not to mention the disgust the population had with both parties. Perhaps they thought the media would view them as having a new positioning for the Libertarians. Perhaps they thought they would really be having a whole country national campaign.

I say that because I was on the mailing list -- and the overwhelming concern EARLY on was to be on ALL 50 states ballots - to somehow show legitimacy. Indeed, one e-mail after another asked for donations so that they could send people into markets to get signatures or to find lawyers to fight one hardship after another. They never seemed to be asking for money to `bring ideas to America' - at least to me.

And, remember, I live in the Atlanta area - I know the coverage in the 90's that Barr got and the level of awareness of him. Indeed, he just barely lost a Republican primary in a run for the Senate. So, in Georgia and really in the core of the conservatives in America - the south - Barr was a known commodity. And, perhaps outrageously, I began an e-mail campaign with the Barr staff to have him use a strategy saying "I am going to win Georgia". (Since the media always love to ask - where are you going to win.)

Yes, I know, it sounds outrageous -- a Libertarian WINNING somewhere? But, in Georgia, with his limited funds - he would be able to raise awareness hugely about the Libertarian positions. And, once he started to `move' in the polls, in Georgia -- very likely -- other `southern states' would likely start to take interest. Other Southern States would likely also start to see some `movement' and improvement in the polling numbers as Georgia's numbers `took off'.

At WORST, at that point - the Libertarians would have had the media interest in the `regional' candidate - a new Wallace - (as you know, the media hates the south anyway). You would have had the media projecting `what if's' about winning southern electoral votes and throwing the whole affair into the House of Representatives. In a nutshell, you would actually shake the political system up and truly get the Libertarian point of view on the screen to all viewers nationwide. (I truly feel that `numbers' would, at that point, even move in other non-southern states.)

But, as you know, that did not happen - and ultimately Barr will get LESS than 1/2 of 1% of the total vote.

So, what went wrong from the viewpoint of an EIGHT time Libertarian voter? A better question would be what DIDN'T go wrong?

Obviously, VERNEY is not and was not a Libertarian - nor did he think like one - nor could he talk like one. Big mistake number one. Next, Barr wouldn't even back the legalization of marijuana - big mistake number two. Next, Barr also ignored the idea of a focused regional campaign, that would allow the campaign to grow from a base - big mistake number three. And then, finally, we had the spectacle of a nominated Presidential candidate willing to dump his Vice President candidate - big big mistake number four. (This, of course, was when Barr supposedly offered Ron Paul that position.)

That is not to say that IF Barr had gotten `traction' in the campaign that he would have done `well' - as the media would have been all over his prior hypocrisies such as cheating on his wife yet prosecuting Clinton for the same. Or, the obvious hypocrisy of `being a Libertarian' when he was so much behind the Drug War against Americans - and the adult right to self-medicate.

Ultimately, Barr inspired NOBODY - and got the results that showed an inept strategy from what should be one of America's main Liberty and Smaller Government parties. Perhaps, next time, in 2012 - the Libertarians WILL stand for Liberty once again - AND - truly smaller government - with a candidate that doesn't have to apologize for previous actions against Liberty.

Drug Czar - "Marijuana is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit,"

To those of you who thought there is some, any, even a small difference between the rhetoric of a republican administration and a democrat one - think again. To those of you who voted for `hope and change' - how's that working out? LOL. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss - this time his name is Gil Kerlikowske who believes that "Marijuana is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit," - in addition to "the federal government views marijuana as a harmful and addictive drug".

Indeed, this idea that pot is ADDICTIVE seems very prevalent in the High Drug Office as just this month I re-butted Keven Sabet, a former drug policy wonk for Clinton and Bush, who said in May that " `addiction is the price' of legal marijuana. http://realheavypolitics.blogspot.com/2009/07/rebuttal-to-kevin-sabet-about-marijuana.html

Such a shame it isn't true - but - is left unchallenged - as usual - by our worthless media lapdogs. Indeed, why would we expect any knowledge of what real addition is from that office - when our now media famous former drug czar William Bennett had the post while addicted to nicotine (cigarettes) AND gambling. What a F'ing joke.

Oh, and did you know that our current czar was someone that while the head of Seattle's Police Force received a vote of no confidence from the "Seattle Police Officers' Guild" (in the very same year he took the job to boot)? And, that one of his earliest jobs in government was "saluting then-President Richard Nixon as he boarded the presidential helicopter". Or, that in 2007 the NAACP called for his resignation? Thought not.
